ANNUAL BSM BRUNCH UPDATE!

What a great time!  The annual BSM Celebration Brunch is such a highlight in my year and this year was no exception! The chance to visit with old friends and to make new ones is always so special. The music from J.D. Glasscock was wonderful and Jeff Berger's talk was inspiring and informative. If you missed the Brunch this year, we hope you make next year's (date to be announced soon).  We can't give you a chance to hear the music or talk from this year, but we CAN give you a chance to see the videos.  Click here to see the group video or click here to see the video of individual students sharing.  By the way, as a result of the generosity of those attending, approximately $10,000 will be made available for the work with students in Houston!  Thank you and praise God!

Houston Area Baptist Student Ministry (HABSM) is a ministry to the more than quarter of a million students in the greater Houston area.  Houston is a unique city with unique opportunities for students.  Houston is home to the state’s third largest university (University of Houston), one of the nation’s premier universities (Rice University) and three community college districts!  Medical professionals from every possible side of medicine receive their training in Houston. We have one of the most well respected historically African-American universities in our city (Texas Southern University) as well as one of the most rapidly growing Baptist universities in the state (Houston Baptist University). 

All in all, there is no city in the entire state and few in the nation which offer the opportunities to be involved in the lives of students that Houston offers.  And God is at work!  We have gifted and devoted staff, both paid and volunteer on numerous campuses around the city.  On a weekly basis, hundreds of students are involved in the various ministries. Students involved in BSM come from all kinds of church backgrounds and no church background. Regardless of where they come from, they are encouraged to discover what it means to encounter the living God through a relationship with Jesus Christ, and to discover what it means to live missionally, regardless of their vocational goals.

Through a variety of missions and ministry opportunities, as well as personal relationship with staff and fellow students, HABSM offers students a way to engage life, their studies and their future in a holistic, Christ centered way.
